is an author and illustrator of books for children and young adults, whose stories aim to elevate marginalized voices and highlight the Queer experience in rural communities. A proud Michigan native, Tim has spent most of his life working in residential education and organized camping. As the Director of Residence Life at the world-renowned Interlochen Center for the Arts, he supported literally thousands of young artists through their developmental years while spearheading initiatives to create gender-expansive housing practices in the century-old institution.
Throughout his organized camping career, Tim is proud to have interviewed, hired, and trained nearly 3,000 young professionals, many of whom were entering the workforce for the first time. Tim’s fifteen years of experience working with young people infuses authenicity and realism into his stories. In addition to his work as an educational consultant, musician, and one of the country’s foremost summer camp experts, Tim is also an MFA candidate at Hamline University’s prestigious Writing for Children and Young Adults program.
Currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area with his partner, Tim still feels most at home wading in Lake Michigan. When he isn’t reading or writing, Tim can be found collecting typewriters and napping with his elderly Shihtzu, Bubba. You can learn more about the things Tim makes @giveusmoretosee on instagram.
