A TASTE OF WHAT I’M ALL ABOUT

I believe that books are the single greatest pathway to helping young people develop a sense of empathy. As an educator and a lifelong learner, I consider it a part of my life’s work to create stories that help children and teenagers meet this mission. Below are two presentations that demonstrate my philosophies as a writer.

As an MFA Candidate in Hamline University’s Writing for Children and Young Adults Program, I had the opportunity to research and craft a critical thesis on a topic of impacting the field of Children’s literature.

In July 2025, I presented my lecture exploring Grief in the Gay Boy Protagonist in Young Adult and Middle Grade Literature. Click on the video to hear my lecture and learn more about my research.

As a member of The Spark File creativity community, I’ve had the chance to foster my love of making things among a collective of like-minded artists. I’ve drafted three novels in the course of my time with The Spark FIle.

In May 2025, I had the opportunity to speak in New York City as part of this program. Take a look at my presentation for a taste of what my writing is all about.
